The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) convened a high-level business conference in Dubai with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) on 15 March 2017. ESG’s CEO Alejandro Litovsky was invited to introduce the challenges and opportunities related to resource security, competitiveness and sustainable business. He chaired a strategic discussion with Philippe Joubert, former President of Alstom Power, and Jose Lopez, former Board member for global operations of Nestle on business decision-making in the face of resource scarcity.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director & CEO of DEWA, inaugurated the conference and DEWA’s vision of sustainability leadership. One of DEWA’s most notable projects is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is the largest single-site solar park in the world, based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, with a planned capacity of 1,000 MW by 2020 and 5,000 MW by 2030, at a total investment of AED 50 billion. The solar park will eventually save approximately 6.5 million tonnes per year in carbon emissions,”
